About Us
Our Orchestra
We are a community orchestra of approximately 45 members. Our repertoire is diverse, ranging from classical overtures, suites and symphonies, to music from movies and musicals. Additional string players are always welcome. Please contact us to register interest if you play a different instrument, so that we can contact you when a casual or permanent vacancy arises.
Rehearsals and Concerts
We rehearse on Thursday mornings at the Cumberland Park Community Centre from 10am to 12 n0on, with a break for morning tea. We typically hold 3 -4 concerts per year, either at the Cumberland Park Community Centre or other venues such as churches around Adelaide. We also occasionally do concerts where we are the guest of another organisation.
Our Mission
Our mission is to:
- Encourage and maintain the art and practice of orchestral music performance.
- Foster and promote the appreciation and enjoyment of orchestral music in the cultural life of the community by providing low-cost orchestral performances that are accessible to all.
- Provide the opportunity and supportive environment for amateur musicians to express and develop their musicianship skills through orchestral performance experiences.
- Provide social enjoyment and companionship for its members.
